It´s me.. Hi!

Welcome to my corner of the internet!

My name is Mica (short for Marica) and I’ll be your host, storyteller, guide and business BFF on this journey. Grab a cup of coffee, tea (or something a little stronger depending on day and time when reading this) and let’s get this story written.

From Dellaneve to Dewinter

What is in a name Shakespeare asked, and choosing a name for your business is kind of like choosing a name for your baby. Do I choose one because I like it? Because it describes the product? Because it tells the story of how I want my customer to feel? Or is the most important part to choose one that works internationally? This is where many of us get stuck because a company is usually an extension of who you are, but also something that is created to serve someone else.

I was born in the north of Sweden, at a place known as the high coast. And while inventors and a variety of industries are part of the history of the area, what connects the past with the present and future is nature. And if you have ever been to Sweden (or watched Game of thrones) you know that the north has its fair share of snowflakes and Winter. My very first name was Emellé (read: ML), a name created from the first letters in the name I was born with. As the years went by, I wanted to change it into something that worked internationally but still told the story of where I came from.

Dellaneve is actually Italian, but it means” Snow ”, and as a great part of the land is covered in white for several months, I went with it. But something still didn’t feel right.. It still wasn’t... well... me. I love playing with words, making slogans, writing, and reading stories that actually mean something. Back to the drawing table.

As I sat there, I couldn’t help but smile – of course! It snows in the Winter; Dewinter!

Growing up, one of my favorite stories was the one about the three musketeers, and particularly the part about a young beautiful woman by the name of Countess Sabine de Winter, more officially referred to as ”Milady”. She was a woman living in a man’s world on and by her own rules and that was something I just could not help but admire about her as a little girl.

Also, the name Dewinter would in the tongue of the Nordic Swedes be pronounced” D e Winter” meaning” it is winter”, which could also translate into: I’m from the north. It was perfect. And as a cherry on top, snow is made of water but can turn into both ice and snow – the definition of an adaptive multipassionate. It was perfect.

While my past is full of experience, this will be a completely new chapter, written on the blank pages of my new book. This is my version of Dewinter.

And I can not wait to share this journey with You.
